Course Schedule

Our curriculum has evolved over time to be engaging and effective at quickly building a solid foundation. Each week we will focus on a core concept of grappling and see how it applies in many different ways. This method allows you to understand things much more quickly than focusing on isolated individual moves. The classes are very practical and you will have the opportunity to put things to the test immediately and ask any questions.

Week 1
Rear Strangle
Tuesday 4th Feb @ 18:00-19:15

The king of the submissions! In this first class we delve into probably the most dominant position in the game and explore strategies to maximise its effectiveness.

Week 2
Head & Arm Strangles
Tuesday 11th Feb @ 18:00-19:15

A versatile submission concept that can be applied in many different positions and circumstances, proving its adaptability and usefulness across various situations.

Week 3
Head & Arm Strangles 2
Tuesday 18th Feb @ 18:00-19:15

This week we expand on what we learned the previous class, but now we'll be using our legs, which are the most powerful muscles in our body, to supercharge the submissions.

Week 4
Shoulder Joint Attacks
Tuesday 25th Feb @ 18:00-19:15

We explore ways of taking the shoulder joint beyond its functional range. This is a fantastic lesson in leverage principles for the smaller player and a staple attack for the larger player.

Week 5
Elbow Attacks
Tuesday 4th Mar @ 18:00-19:15

These can be found in a multitude of grappling positions. As we progress to Week 5, it gives us the chance to experiment with a few options and refine our techniques for various scenarios.

Week 6
Footlocks
Tuesday 11th Mar @ 18:00-19:15

We give the upper body a rest and attack the lower limbs in week 6. Concentrating on destabilizing our partners base, so that we can attack the ankle joint.

Week 7
TAKING SPACE
Tuesday 18th Mar @ 18:00-19:15

This is the absolute foundation of every offensive move you make. This week, we start to build pathways that will get you to your submissions.

Week 8
MAKING SPACE
Tuesday 25th Mar @ 18:00-19:15

Defence is an essential skill. If you can minimise your opponents offensive measures, you can start to attack them much more efficiently.

I took the 8 week beginners course. When I signed up I was mentally in a very low place. Not going to lie I was mega nervous when I went to my first class but Jon is an expert teacher and mentor. 9 weeks on I feel real inner confidence I've never felt before. I'm so thankful to everyone at the gym.

Fantastic gym and classes for all abilities, highly recommend the 8 weeks beginners course, now starting the fundamental classes, Jon is a great person and coach nothing to much trouble asking about the technical side of grappling, also the other coaches and more experienced are always happy to give pointers. I am thoroughly enjoying Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of this place.

He's a patient teacher that's always happy to help. The passion shows through the teaching. Highly recommend!
